ALAY LAKAD 2010

Last Sunday, September 26, 2010 we participated in the annual Alay Lakad (Walk for a Cause) in partnership with the Alay Lakad Foundation, Inc. It was my first time to attend a walk for a cause or make that, 'twas my first in that kind of activity and I have Happy World to thank. You see, am the Happy World POC here in Cebu and activities related to CSR and community involvement fall under my turf.

The entire team assembled at Jollibee Sto. NiƱo at 4am. True enough, the early bird catches the worm because we won the Early Bird Award J

By the way, Alay Lakad is a means wherein the foundation can raise much needed funds to continue its on-going programs such as high-school educational grants. College scholarships, etc.

I would like to thank my super wonderful and overly fantastic team – Comms Cebu for making it happen. Dili flop ang show guys! And most of all, even after the walk, bisan singot, we still look amazing! J

To prove my point, look at the pictures below :-)

At 6am and we were all pumped up to start the walk.

Big thanks to UC for exchanging spots with us or else, where the last contingent to arrive at Abellana Sports Complex.

I like this shot. We all looked happy but the truth was, we were all sleepy! We went partying before the walk :-)

One big happy picture, picture with the Enterprise Partners, Travel and Hospitality, Emerging Markets and Banking Verticals. Yepeydo! 'Twas well attended.

The team who made it happen - Communications Cebu. Our previous manager asked for our team's name. Top of mind, we said, "Team Maldita." Super proud of you team!

I'M NOT MOVING

Going Back to the corner where I first saw you
Gonna camp in my sleeping bag I'm not gonna move
Got some words on cardboard, got your picture in my hand
Saying, "If you see this girl can you tell her where I am?"

Some try to hand me money, they don't understand
I'm not broke I'm just a broken hearted man
I know it makes no sense but what else can I do
How can I move on when I'm still in love with you

'cause if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinkin maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet
And you'll see me waiting for you on our corner of the street
So I'm not moving, I'm not moving

Policeman says, "Son you can't stay here"
I said, "There's someone I'm waiting for if it's a day, a month, a year"
Gotta stand my ground even if it rains or snows
If she changes her mind this is the first place she will go

'cause If one day you wake up and find that you're missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinking maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet
And you'll see me waiting for you on our corner of the street
So I'm not moving, I'm not moving,
I'm not moving, I'm not moving

People talk about the guy that's waiting on a girl
There are no holes in his shoes but a big hole in his world

Maybe I'll get famous as the man who can't be moved
Maybe you wont mean to but you'll see me on the news
And you'll come running to the corner
'cause you'll know it's just for you
I'm the man who can't be moved

[Chorus 2x]

Going back to the corner where I first saw you
Gonna camp in my sleeping bag I'm not gonna move

Anyone who has gone through the agony of losing someone, fights all odds to have that love back again. But sometimes, a love lost is a love gone forever. No amount of hope can bring to life a relationship from its natural death. Note that it may rain 40 days and 40 nights but still, it will not rain forever. One day the pouring will stop and there will be plenty of branches where you can find rest. It’s never too late.
You may find love and lose it but, when love dies, you never have to die with it.

BEAUTIFUL CRAZY

It hit me.

The love you want are those you can’t really have. Often, you have to be contended with the circumstance that both of you have known each other or be appreciative of the time that you've spent especially those long hours of conversation over a cup of coffee, tea, or beer, or the unsolicited company during the wee small hours.

There are those occasions where you wish you can own time and place it at the palm of your hands so you have control over it. And, you just have to pause it because you don't want to go home. You don't want it to end. You don't want to bid goodbye. Some feelings in the heart are concealed because of fears and hesitations. Fearful because of uncertainty. And so you wait…wait until you don’t know when. Then you tell yourself, "I can get through this. I’ve been through a lot and this one is just easy."

But is it?

Damn.

This is crazy.

Beautiful crazy.

TO TEACHER

Prelude: If you don't get the conversation in Cebuano, just like in Miss Universe, hire an interpreter :-)

"Naa man ko'y gipangayo nga sign ni Mama Mary," Teacher told us with a kilig expression on her face while we were eating dinner at a diner just across our office.

"Ug unsa man nga sign imu gipangayo?" we asked.

"Nga older sa ako," she replied.

Well, I can't divulge how old Teacher is because I am very sure if she reads this entry, she'll definitely react. She will definitely argue that my figures are wrong. However, let us just say that Teacher looks "graceful" even if she is in her 30s.

"Well," I told her. "Why won't you give Uno (not his real name) a chance."

"Yeah, older imu gipangayo nga sign but, prayers should be specific. Wala ka mi-specify ni Mama Mary if older ba na edad or older ang panghuna-huna. Why won't you give this a chance," I continued.

We had that conversation some 30 days ago. Fast forward to today.

Teacher and Uno are now celebrating their 1st monthsary.

Looking at Teacher these days, I believe that she is happy. No, make that "accomplished" because she took the huge leap of faith.

It took her courage and major considering. Yup! Because I am pretty sure that some folks close to her won't approve her decision.

And, it also took her a lot of self-control. Hmmmm I'll skip this part and won't elaborate further. :-)

If there is a lesson I learned from this, it is that sometimes you just have to take the risk and enjoy every moment of happiness. Yeah sure you might say that it's reckless to get into something that you are not assured of but, I guess you'll not have your own taste (no pun intended) of happiness unless you jump in the bandwagon.

Teacher is one of the most loving people I know. And, she just reaffirmed my belief that loving is a celebration of gratitude. You enter into a relationship because you have so much blessings already and it is your turn to give it back.

SIGNING IN

Honestly, ilang beses na ako nag backspace because I have no clue on what to write for my maiden article. Well, first article for this blogspot. I have been writing. Yes, have been. I just can't remember when I stopped or why I stopped or kung nag stop ba talaga ako since my present job in the industry that I am in now entails a lot of writing, editing and proofreading.

But here I am. Back in the game. No expectations. Just me and my words. Me and my thoughts. Me and my whole-lot-of-stories to share.

Parang preface lang to. I'll keep this short, simple, sweet and harmless.

Welcome to my page folks. My world in cyberspace.

This is thinkaboutmigraine.
