Prelude: If you don't get the conversation in Cebuano, just like in Miss Universe, hire an interpreter :-)
"Naa man ko'y gipangayo nga sign ni Mama Mary," Teacher told us with a kilig expression on her face while we were eating dinner at a diner just across our office.
"Ug unsa man nga sign imu gipangayo?" we asked.
"Nga older sa ako," she replied.
Well, I can't divulge how old Teacher is because I am very sure if she reads this entry, she'll definitely react. She will definitely argue that my figures are wrong. However, let us just say that Teacher looks "graceful" even if she is in her 30s.
"Well," I told her. "Why won't you give Uno (not his real name) a chance."
"Yeah, older imu gipangayo nga sign but, prayers should be specific. Wala ka mi-specify ni Mama Mary if older ba na edad or older ang panghuna-huna. Why won't you give this a chance," I continued.
We had that conversation some 30 days ago. Fast forward to today.
Teacher and Uno are now celebrating their 1st monthsary.
Looking at Teacher these days, I believe that she is happy. No, make that "accomplished" because she took the huge leap of faith.
It took her courage and major considering. Yup! Because I am pretty sure that some folks close to her won't approve her decision.
If there is a lesson I learned from this, it is that sometimes you just have to take the risk and enjoy every moment of happiness. Yeah sure you might say that it's reckless to get into something that you are not assured of but, I guess you'll not have your own taste (no pun intended) of happiness unless you jump in the bandwagon.
Teacher is one of the most loving people I know. And, she just reaffirmed my belief that loving is a celebration of gratitude. You enter into a relationship because you have so much blessings already and it is your turn to give it back.
