HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LANGGA KIDDY!

I never really liked her the first time I saw her in school. I can still perfectly picture out what she was wearing that day and I declared to myself that there’s no chance that am going to be friends with her. You see, my judgment back in college was always based on what you are wearing and perhaps, the company you keep. She was with a group of relocators – from the different provinces of Misamis Oriental and back then, I tried to distance myself from them. Back in college, I always see myself as “better” if not “the best” compared to the other people in our college. But like love, God moves in mysterious ways. Fast forward to today, this lady that I detest some 11 years ago just because of (1) how she dresses and (2) the province she comes from turns out to be the lady I can spend knowing all my lifetime.

Kiddy, Lilet, Bukog, Tirang, Princess Kiddy, Sisa, Langga, and all the other nicknames you got,  I want to let you know that amidst all the struggles I have to face in life today, I am reassured of God’s fairness and love because He gave me a best friend like you who would willingly share my burdens. You are so generous, forgiving, understanding, caring, loving, smart and I am just the proudest (second to Gabe J ) for knowing you. I guess I will never grow tired of sharing our story to my new set of friends here. And I guess, even when the time comes when we have to complain about our arthritis every morning; or, when we want to be nostalgic but we can’t remember anything; or, when our vision starts to fade and our speech slurs a bit, I will remain to be your friend and I know you in mine.

So, to the special lady who made me appreciate who I am, for reassuring me that life after all is worth it most especially if you have sincere people to share it with; to my best friend, my strength, my soft voice in the wind, my greatest fan, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!

I miss you so much!
